"You have to be gentle and kind of predict how the aircraft is going to react to different situations. That's something that's hard to teach — but these kids get it."

On what makes a great young pilot

Garmin Perspective Avionics

Cirrus is the only manufacturer to offer the full Garmin Perspective suite as standard equipment on every aircraft. Your student learns on the same glass cockpit platform used by professional pilots worldwide, not outdated steam gauges.

This matters because modern aviation is glass-cockpit aviation. Students trained on Garmin Perspective have a direct pathway to airline and professional flight training environments.

  • Traffic alerting: other aircraft shown in real time on the MFD
  • Full-screen GPS moving map with terrain awareness and obstacle data
  • Two-axis autopilot with altitude hold and course tracking
  • Weather overlay and datalink satellite weather (SiriusXM)
  • Engine monitoring on the primary display with trend analysis
  • Synthetic vision: 3D terrain depiction even in zero visibility

Built-in Safety Systems

Cirrus did not just meet FAA safety requirements. They redesigned what a safe aircraft looks like. These are the two systems that set Cirrus apart from every other aircraft in its class.

Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS)

Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS)

The only whole-plane parachute in production aviation

100+ lives saved
Real-world CAPS deployments

Every Cirrus is equipped with a ballistic parachute system built into the airframe. In an extreme emergency such as a mid-air collision, pilot incapacitation, or structural failure, the pilot pulls a single handle and a rocket fires a parachute from the aircraft tail, lowering the entire airplane safely to the ground. This system has saved over 100 lives in real-world emergencies.

CAPS is standard equipment on every Cirrus ever built. No other production single-engine aircraft in this class offers anything comparable.

Seatbelt Airbags

Seatbelt Airbags

Aviation-grade impact protection in every front seat

Commercial-grade
Impact protection technology

The front seats of the SR-22 are equipped with airbag-integrated shoulder harnesses. They look like normal seatbelts, but contain hidden airbag technology that deploys on hard impact, reducing head and torso injury in a landing incident. This technology is more commonly found in commercial jets than in small aircraft.

Developed by AmSafe, the same company that supplies seatbelt airbags to Boeing and Airbus.
