Please have your student bring a water bottle sunscreen (if desired) and wear closed toed shoes. The outdoor portion at the airport can be loud, if you student has sensory concerns please feel free to send noise cancelling headphones with them. Students are welcome to bring notebooks if they would like to take notes. We will also provide some worksheets and pencils/pens. Every student that comes to class or does a discovery flight will need a waiver filled out and signed before they participate.
Each class is around 2 hrs. We will start in the classroom for about 45 minutes, this will include instruction and hands-on experiments. After that we will head out to the
airplane and your student will be able to touch and interact with a real airplane.
The discovery flight will be a total of 1 hr. We will do approximately 15 min of “ground school”
and then your student will go flying! Your student will learn the basics about all the buttons, maneuvers, controls and will even be able to fly themselves.
When flying a small plane we have to do a weight and balance in order to be safe while flying. We will do our best to accommodate families by allowing two siblings to fly together as long as it is safe and the plane is balanced. The final decision will be made by our pilot at the time of the lesson based on weather and safety. Typically the heavier, taller student would need to sit in the front and the smaller sibling would have to ride in the back. There is not safe way to switch during the flight, so only one student would be able to "fly" the plane. There will be a $50 charge for the second student to go on the flight. We ask that you be flexible as weather conditions or mechanical issues with the plane could occur and we may need to reschedule your flight. Safety is our number one priority and we will always air on the side of caution when flying.
